Weather Effects Coming to Battles as Well?

Hello there fellow trainers, I hope you guys are doing well. Well, this recent post we did and responses have motivated us to write this post. Well if you are not familiar with the main series Pokemon games, weather effects in the game were also another part of the battle mechanics.

Weather situations like a sunny day, rain, snow, hail, sandstorm etc. were a major part of the main series games. There were actually some Pokemon moves like Rain Dance and Sunny day designed to bring in such weather conditions. Also, the mighty Tyranitar with it’s Sand Stream had the ability to bring in a sand storm at the time of the battle.

In previous alleged leaks we have seen about time of day, and weather effects being added to the game are cool and all, if there were supposed to be true (which I believe they are), then we should have seen them by now in the game. Unless if Niantic is cooking up another strategy to make things similar to the originals.

See having these weather effects provide strategic advantages, to specific types of Pokemon and make them stronger in certain use cases. For instance, Pokemon with water types moves deal more damage when it is raining, and Pokemon with fire type moves deal more damage when it is sunny.

Also, there are certain series of Pokemon, like Lotad, which have abilities like Swift Swim, which raises their speed stat, whenever it starts raining. Then there is Castform which is a weather Pokemon, it’s physical form changes with the current weather, which is a pretty interesting characteristic of this Pokemon.

Also, castform has a move called as weather ball, whose type of move is variable, the move type changes with the current weather. If the weather out is sunny weather balls is a fire type move and so on.

The original main series games also had moves like chlorophyll and solar beam, the amount of HP recovered depends on the weather condition, if the weather out there is sunny, more HP would be recovered, and as for Solarbeam, unlike Pokemon Go in the main series games, Solarbeam takes up two turns, since Pokemon Go doesn’t have a turn based system, it would be interesting how Pokemon go will make a change to Solarbeam.

But there are some real-world problems too, like in tropical countries when most of the time it is hot out there, and in areas with perennial rainfall, it would be raining out most of the time, so some trainers are at an unfair advantage when battling. Adding another real world attribute like the weather is interesting, and would make things exciting.

I don’t know about you guys, but I am really excited to see how, things will work out when Pokemon Go decides to add weather based spawns and moves to the game, but it would be interesting to see.
