Rare Pokemon On The Loose & You Might Have Already Caught It But Not Know It!

The Pokemon GO Anniversary EventFire and Ice Solstice just ended. Now, everyone’s probably looking forward to the real one happening next month in Chicago’s Grant Park. But is the in-game celebration really over? There’s an alleged new Pokemon caught in the wild, believed to be a part of the game’s anniversary special.

Technically, it’s not a new type of Pokemon, but probably a different version of an old one. One Pokemon trainer came forth to share how she caught what seems to be another version of Ditto.  Here are the photos of the two types of Ditto placed side by side:

The appearance of the creature is similar to the original one, but the name is spelled differently. It’s unclear how different it is from the Ditto we know –if it has another move set save for Transform and Struggle — or if it’s really ultra rare at all. The trainer claims catching the ‘Dittogh’ is more difficult than the original, using more than 5 berries and bananas just to catch it. Unfortunately, we can’t verify if it was another type of the Pokemon. For all we know, it could just be a glitch or respelled intentionally.

If it is indeed rare, it could be a hint to the arrival of the Legendaries to the game. Niantic has outright said that the missing Pokemon are coming this summer and with the anniversary coinciding this timeframe, there’s little reason to believe it’s not coming anytime sooner than later. We don’t know for sure which ones will make their way to Pokemon Go or how, but we’re pretty sure their release is just around the corner.

Pokemon GO Anniversary: More Are Coming

Currently, there is a number of Legendary Pokemon still missing from the game: the three legendary birds– Articuno, Zapdos, and Moltres–Mewtwo, Mew, Entei, Suicune, and Raikou. The popular theory is that they could be introduced during the Pokemon GO Fest in July.

Niantic CEO John Hanke already suggested that they might come as part of some kind of cooperative event, like where trainers have to team up to be able to catch the creatures. What better way to host an in-person event than by holding team-based activities with a rare Pokemon as the reward? This was what the game trailer teased after all.

Then again, the Legendaries may or may not arrive by then. Summer won’t end until September. If Niantic doesn’t release it as expected, we might see them in the subsequent months instead.

In the meantime, make sure to join the Pokemon GO Fest. The all-day event offers special challenges and rewards for participants, an exclusive in-game medal and chances to meet fellow team members. If you failed to get a ticket directly from Niantic, you may still purchase one from third-party sellers but for a much higher price. Right now, individual tickets are going for nearly $300 from many sellers.
